The Pickled Fig, Fremantle

The Pickled Fig is part of a small chain of fig restaurants across Perth. Nestled on the edge of the beach in North Coogee it makes the perfect place for us South of River folk to go for a lazy brunch. I'd heard a lot about The Fig restaurants from Catherine who loves The Wild Fig which is in Scarborough. A quick google said the menu was vegan friendly, so in the car we hopped...

We turned up and grabbed a table as soon as one was free, the cafe is so popular especially with locals and their dogs who seem to fill the outside space after a walk along the dog beach.

Iced coffee

I went for the quinoa, buckwheat and coconut porridge. I was pretty impressed when it came out, a very generous portion and beautifully presented. It was okay, and by okay I mean I wouldn't eat it again. In the nicest way possible the dish just wasn't for me and it was far too bland. I'd also like to just be really fussy and add that the staff told me it was vegan but it was drizzled in honey, which isn't vegan...

What we really need to talk about though is the eggs...

I'm gonna let the pictures do the talking

Pure eggy heaven (if you like eggs).

The service was pretty good, everything was brought out and cleared quickly and the young lad who served me at the till was really helpful and friendly.

When we were finished we took a 30 second walk down on to the beach...

A beautiful morning in Perth.

Have you tried any of The Fig restaurants?
