notting hill carnival

Grab a cup of rum punch, put on your brightest clothes & slip on your dancing shoes, it's carnival....

Notting hill carnival is something everyone needs to experience at least once in their life, however it's not something you can experience properly just stood on the pavement miles back from the floats, to really experience carnival you need to get in to carnival spirit, get to the procession route and dance till your feet hurt and then dance some more. What I love most about carnival is that anyone can get involved, it doesn't matter if you're 1 or 100, male, female, white black, under weight or over weight, everyone is welcome to grab a plate of jerk chicken and cup of rum punch. If you're brave enough you can jump on the procession route and whine and twerk (none of this miley cyris business though) your way up Ladbroke Grove to ragga dance hall with the floats or just hang back and admire it all from the pavements.

Yes it is very crowded and yes you'll end up dancing with strangers but that's the joy of carnival, it's one big, colourful, drunken party.

Sunday at Camp Bestival

I hope you've not given up on these posts as Sunday was by far the best day....
camp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalSomewhere between dancing to Clean Bandit, the 1975, Dan le Sac vs. Scroobius pip, The men who will not be blamed for nothing and Dick n Dom's DJ set I seemed to lose all track of time, all sense of reality and all will to return to life without Camp Bestival. The weekend ended quite literally in fireworks, fantastic mid blowing fireworks teamed with animations. There is no way my little dyslexic mind can portray in words just how spectacular the weekend was, so I sincerely hope my pictures have given you a little insight in to the magical little world of Camp Bestival, - early bird tickets for next year go on sale real soon so make sure you keep an eye on the website & I hope to see you there next year. Till 2014 camp bestival. x

Saturday at camp bestival

camp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestivalcamp bestival

On Saturday everything seemed to kick off, the working week was over and families flocked to Lulworth Castle to jump around to the likes of the cuban brothers and grand master flash, the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so I'll let the picture of me dressed as a giant strawberry do the talking....

If you pay any attention to me at all you'll probably have guessed I spent last weekend at camp bestival in Lulworth. Camp Bestival is the little sister of Isle of Wight's Bestival, the love child of Rob & Josie Da Bank and it's probably the most family friendly festival to grace the planet. This years camp Bestival boasted an amazing line up featuring everyone from Mr Tumble to The Cuban Brothers, but if music, comedy and live theatre aren't your thing why not!?, there's tent full of delicious food to suit every taste and diet yep even vegans are spoilt rotten at camp bestival, story tellers and fairy villages in the woods and more spiritual tents than you can shake a stick at.
It was so hard to sort through my images for this post so I've just chosen a selection to show of the first few hours we spent exploring, there's a few more posts to follow crammed full of crowds, music and dancing.
