coats, scarves and wetsuits.

One thing everyone failed to tell us when we moved to Australia is how cold it gets, I remember the evenings getting chilly when we came here on holidays but never would have thought I'd need a coat and scarf in Perth. Admittedly it's only the mornings and evenings that have a real edge, but it still means having to buy more clothes to layer up.

Boys aren't immune to the cold either, alongside buying jumpers and a coat Dan's also given up and invested in a winter wetsuit.

It'd be rude to not share some photos of the beach, which in WA is beautiful all year round...

City Wine

Last weekend Wine and food WA set up their City wine, Perth's first urban wine festival.
City wine boasted some of the area's best boutique wineries, mixed with some wonderful musicians and some delicious food, a winning mix for  a girl like me.

I grabbed my new buddy Rach and head on down, at the entry gates we were given our tasting glasses which entitled us to sample all the wine.

It was only logical to start at the first tent and work our way round.. serious question time... red or white?

house of cards wine

I'll admit I'm not a huge drinker, I don't know much about wine but the rose from the guys at House of Cards wine (Margaret River) was incredible. We were doubly won over when they told us they make it into a slushy in summer.

We stopped in awe and watching the cocktail gastronomy guys make their incredible nitrogen cocktails.

There was a great mix of food available from those sticky ribs to a falafel box at the hummus club (which is the best thing ever if you've not tried one yet!).

The inside of the tents looked a little like this, wine everywhere.

And after a recommendation from someone on instagram we made it our duty to have a Cabernato mojito, and boy am I glad we did, it was brilliant, the perfect summer drink. Apart from maybe that rose slushy...

The mix of great wine, good music and good food left me with this face for most of the night.

As the evening went on the music tent begun to fill up, filled with happy smiley people having a brilliant time. It was magical.

Entry to city wine was $25 per person (including the tasting glass), sadly it was for one weekend only but I'm crossing everything they host another one soon. Wine and Food WA host events throughout the year, Unwined being their next scheduled event which falls on October 21 & November 1 2015.

Thanks for a great evening City Wine.

What's your favourite wine?

Rockingham wild, three island wildlife cruise

This weekend we head down to Rockingham wild encounters in Shoalwater to experience their seasonal Three Islands wildlife cruise. It was all smiles as we arrived in the sunshine and stopped at the Pengo's cafe to grab a coffee and banana bread, FYI their banana bread is awesome.

Sun beaming over us, we made our way down to board our boat, I recommend wearing shoes you don't mind getting wet as I got a minor soaking on the way down the jetty.

And we took off across to Seal island, the cruise lasts around 60 minutes and is only offered between June - September (whilst penguin island is closed).

As we pulled up this little guy swam right under the boat

and popped back up a bit closer to shore.

Our guide told us some incredible facts about the sea lions who have made the island home, did you know these guys are pretty rare and only live in Western and Southern Australia? There's around 15,000 of them in total and they can live up to 20 years of age, pretty neat huh?

I've got a little soft spot for these guys, they're super curious and love playing with divers and snorkellers, which I wrote a little more about in this post  when I first met them.

From Seal island we head out across the bay to check out some of the incredible rock formations and then to a large 30 year old Osprey nest.

The large osprey nest, if you look closely you can see their little white heads popping out.

We kept our eyes out for dolphins the whole way, but sadly didn't see any- which is a shame as it's the same place we paddleboarded with dolphins a few months back.

Before we knew it our little adventure was over and we head back to the jetty.

The three islands wildlife cruise operates twice daily and costs $35 for adults.
I was kindly gifted this experience but I would definitely pay $35 to do it again.

Thanks for a great morning Rockingham wild!

life lately & Perth bloggers meet up

I don't know if people like 'life lately' type posts, but I don't have anything to blog about apart from my life lately and I've got an urge to write a blog post, so here's a little bit of what I've been up to away from the blog.

warming up / view from kings park / hot chocolate at the kiosk

It's suddenly got cold in Perth, so I've been stocking up on pyjamas, bed socks and blankets I find K Mart the best for pyjamas and love all of the Target homewares, they're really on trend and affordable.

I've been trying to explore Perth city more, it's quite hard as we live a good 45 minute drive away. Walks around Kings Park  are one of my favourite ways to pass a morning or afternoon.

We've also been trying to go for brunch more, but again being so far from the city makes it quite hard work. If anyone know of good little brunch spots in Rockingham please let me know. I took Dan up to The Kiosk at Floreat and he fell in love, is there anything more wonderful than a coffee looking over a beautiful beach? no, there's not.

Babooshka / point walter / viva la blonde

A few weekends back I met up with some wonderful ladies at Babooshka in Perth (I need to blog about them, the food was awesome), it was so nice to start meeting more bloggers out here as I really miss my Bournemouth blogger ladies! Thanks to Emma from The Illusive Femme & Demelza from Demelza Buckley  for letting me come along.

We head to Point Walter which is near Fremantle, another favourite Perth spot of mine. Dan hadn't been so we head up last weekend and grabbed an ice cream and sat enjoying the beautiful views, we need to take our paddle boards up some time.

More big news is that I finally got my roots done, I'm really funny when it comes to hair dressers so it took  a long time to find somewhere I trusted. The girls at Viva La Blonde in Perth are incredible, the wonderful Paris did my hair and look how insanely beautiful it is! Now all I need to do is learn how to make it this pretty myself...

J cat / point walter / perth blogger meet up

We decided our house was in need of some kind of pet, and aren't ready for a puppy yet so decided to foster a kitty! This is our beautiful foster cat, who is probably the biggest cat I've ever seen. He's still really scared but is super playful if we sit with him for a while.

My last bit of news, phew, is that I'm arranging a big Perth blogger meet up on Saturday 25th July. If you've followed my blogging adventures for a while you'll know that I love hanging out with other bloggers and I quite enjoy organising things.

Perth blogger meet up is going to be super informal, a way for people from all different niches to get together and talk about all things blog. I've got unlimited spaces so if you've like to come drop me a comment below with your email address or send me an email.

Yay!
What have you been up to lately?
