Pearth organic kitchen review

PEARTH is all about creating wholesome and healthy food. We don’t prescribe to any particular diet. On our menu you will find food to feed the gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian and meat eating people of Perth. What you won’t find in our food is processed products or refined sugars. We cook this way because we believe that health is the natural consequence of using whole foods, organic ingredients and conscious cooking techniques.

Over the past few years the Perth brunch scene has taken off, meaning my 'to visit' list has got ever longer. When Pearth opened in West Leederville I knew I had to visit, with an incredible menu focusing on wholesome and nutritious food and enough options to keep any vegetarian or vegan happy for days.

I met Catherine mid morning and was pleasantly surprised to find two empty tables, we grabbed menus and started deciding what to have. Catherine went for the banana bread and I went for an acai bowl.

How incredible does it look? Catherine assured me it tasted just as good as it looked, if not better.

Two pieces of fresh banana bread divided by laters of coconut yoghurt, house-made berry chia jam, fresh fruit and drizzled with maple syrup, Vegan and gluten free. $17.50

Kommunity Brew in Wild Jasmine ($8) is my all time favourite Kombucha, it's made here in Perth and tastes incredible!

PEARTH have a hearty list of smoothie bowls, but with a little bit of advice from one of the staff I decided to go for a trusty acai bowl, it was totally delicious and the serving was so generous I had to pour the remainder in to a smoothie cup to take home. The PEARTH acai bowl is quite possibly the best acai bowl in Perth!

Acai bowl containing acai, blueberries, banana, cacao, dates, almond milk served with fresh fruit and house-made granola. Vegan with gluten free option available. $17.50

Our food was served really quickly, and I'm sure you'll agree the presentation and serving sizes are amazing. The service was great and the decor inside is light, bright and modern. Price wise, it's on par with other trendy brunch locations across the city.

Taste of Perth 2016 #electroluxlovesfood

Last year we wrapped up in coats, hid under ponchos and fought our way through the tents at Taste of Perth, this year was a little bit different....

The awesome team behind Electrolux Chefs' Secrets invited us to a cooking masterclass with Robert Murphy of Bistro Guillaume- learning to cook from one of the head chef's at an awesome Perth restaurant...count us in!

Luckily the weather held up for us this year, but it was still pretty chilly, so wrapped up in shirts and scarves we head down to Perth just before lunch to see what we could learn.

This year is the first time Perth has been able to experience Chefs' secrets, so I wasn't too sure what to expect. We were greeted into the tent with a glass of aperol and given aprons and menu cards.

After a quick brief and hand wash we were split into teams and set to work preparing our meal- Lamb with Zucchini Flowers, Smoky Eggplant, Salsa Verde, Mushroom and Brussel Sprouts....

Before we knew it everything was ready to be plated up, it was great to learn some tips and tricks on food presentation...

Everyone tucked in to their meals, accompanied with a glass of wine paired to the meal. Once we were done we were surprised with a plethora of dessert and a quick Q&A session with Robert Murphy...

It was such a fantastic session and we both left feeling so inspired to be more creative in the kitchen.
Sessions are only $12 per person inclusive of all food and drink, which is a total bargain!

Once we were done we set out to explore the rest of Taste of Perth, ws we'd gone on the Sunday the judging for  'Best in Taste' dishes had already been done-  Wood Fired Chicken from Manuka Woodfire Kitchen, Chocolate Fondant from The Shorehouse and Roasted Fremantle Octopus from Bib & Tucker. Challenge accepted....

I also couldn't resist joining the (very long) line for a curried pumpkin Bao from Perth foodie favourite Lucky Chan's, it was worth every second I queud for.

Adequately full up we decided it was time to sit down and soak up the atmosphere, a little birdy had told me the magnificent folk from Custard & co (arguably Australia's best cider) had made up a batch of mulled cider- perfect to warm us up...

We had a fantastic afternoon learning new cooking skills, tasting amazing new food and drink and enjoying the winter sunshine. Thank you so much for the invite Electrolux- we can't wait to come back next year!

Did you get to Taste of Perth this year? What was your favourite dish?

easy like a sunday morning

Because blogger life isn't all brunches in hipster cafes and frolicking on the beach...

Everyone's got a little sunday morning routine, ours begins with a lie in which thanks to our body clocks means rising somewhere between 7-8am, we put on an episode of house and enjoy not having to do anything for the day. When adequate energy is assembled I jump in the car or on my bike and head to our favourite local Deli and buy myself the nicest bunch of flowers I can find and load the basket with yummy goods.

Investing in a  nespresso machine was one of the best decisions ever, a cup of barista quality coffee now costs around 50c instead of $5 and I love browsing all the flavours in the shop (#adultlife).

one for the meat eater

and one for the vegan ( the white is hummus)

We sit at the table and talk about our week gone and the plans for the next one, and try to make loose plans for the rest of the day. Sometimes we head out on a big adventure and others we just laze around the house playing games in the pool- whatever we choose it's with a full tummy and a happy mind.

Do you have a sunday morning routine?

night noodle markets

I was pretty excited to hear the night noodle markets were on whilst we were in Sydney , sadly they're all finished now, but lucky you- you can live the wonder vicariously through me!

Sydney's night noodle markets are a foodie dream, filling Hyde Park each year as part of good food month there's an incredible mix of Asian food from a mix of top local chefs and smaller restaurants. The vibe is incredible, bustling with people elbows out to get the best boa, music, lights everywhere and the occasional dancing dog.

Whilst the queues may look long (some wiggle all over the place and round the corner) they clear quickly, none the less- if you want to make the most of your time arrive eaaaarly!

We both ordered from the Eat the chicken stall, Dan had the chicken pad thai and I had the veggie pineapple fried rice- which was incredible especially teamed with a drizzle of chilli sauce!

Care of instagram I'd found out about Whisky Sugar, who were serving up whisky cocktails and whisky cookies. I really don't like whisky, but Dan loves it so I gave in and we wondered over, I am so glad we did because, whilst the cocktails still weren't really my thing, the whisky cookies were absolutely incredible- so good intact I'm going to try and make my own to share the recipe!

If you can handle the crowds, and you're in town at the right time, you definitely need to head down to the Sydney night noodle markets.
