Grill'd Mandurah

A little birdie told me that a new burger joint had opened in Mandurah, so naturally we had to go and investigate. Grill'd is an Australia wide burger restaurant, who pride themselves on good quality meat apparently the sweet potato chips are pretty good too....game on...

We arrived at dusk and it was pleasantly busy, the decor was refreshing and a long shot from the rest of Mandurah's outdated foreshore restaurants.

A quick browse of the menu and we headed up to the till to place our order. Alongside the tills you can see straight in to the kitchen, and little miss vegetarian here was pretty excited to see that they were cooking veggie options on separate grill pads. Within 15 minutes our burgers were brought over to our table.

The wild wild west burger for Dan

G went for a Simon Says chicken burger

And I went for the Garden Goodness, a veggie patty and a heap of salad...

all with a sharing portion of sweet potato fries

YUM.

Grill'd Mandurah definitely did not disappoint, whilst it had nothing on some of London's top burger joints its good quality, affordable food and is a much needed modern foodie pitstop on the Mandurah Foreshore.

Grill'd, we will be back.

our island

Every family has somewhere special, this is ours...

The island is just a few minutes from Mandurah by boat, I dont know its real name I'm afraid. There's not really a lot to do on the island, you moor up and jump off in to the warm water and carry your towels ashore, if no one else is around the radio gets turned up so you can dance on the beach and if you're feeling adventurous you can go for a walk around the island. When it's time to cool of you grab your lilo and go for a little float, but make sure you've got a line to the boat, the rips are super strong (and if you're anything like me, you'll panick thinking a cutesy dolphin is a shark, and want to get back on board pronto). And when tummy's start to rumble the BBQ's fired up and burgers sizzle, whilst fresh beers and opened from the ice cold esky. The boys are free to run along the beach chasing a football whilst us girls top up our tans and gossip.

I'm pretty happy knowing this is how I'm going to spend my days off when we get here.

Jealous? I hope so.
